Survey feedback

Your feedback on the MechStrategen survey & what happens next here

Hello everyone,

I recently asked you for your honest opinion on mechstrategen.de. As the sole author of this blog, direct communication with you is extremely important to me. After all, I want to create content that will help you at the gaming table, inspire you and advance our fantastic hobby. You have taken the time to answer the questions diligently – and I would like to start by thanking you very much for that ! The survey is still open and available as a link on the homepage.

To be honest, there have not yet been a huge number of responses, but the feedback that has been received already allows very clear conclusions and trends to be drawn. The results not only show me what you already like, but also put my finger right in the wounds that I need to work on. See this post as my promise to you that your voices have been heard.

Here’s a transparent look at the results and the specific changes I’ll be implementing here on the blog.

The bare figures: What’s going great?

I was really pleased with your overall assessment. The general satisfaction with the blog averages a strong 4.33 out of 5 stars. What’s even better is that more than half of you visit the blog every week and, believe it or not, 100% of participants would recommend it to their friends. That is pure motivation for me!

I was particularly pleased with the top marks in the areas:

  • Readability (4.22 / 5 stars): Nice to know that the articles read smoothly and enjoyably.
  • Depth of information (4.00 / 5 stars): My claim to not just scratch the surface seems to resonate with you.

The feedback on the company’s own scenarios and campaigns was also consistently positive: those who played them found them “just right for Alpha Strike”.

Survey feedback

Your honest feedback: Where is there still a problem?

A blog doesn’t live from pats on the back alone, but from constructive criticism. With 3.44 out of 5 stars, the layout and appearance received the highest score. And the open feedback clearly named the problem. Two points in particular gave me food for thought:

Point of criticism from the communityMy reaction & the plan for the future
Too much AI artwork & sterile texts: Some of you rightly commented that AI images rob the blog of its personality and that some texts appear too sterile or generic due to AI support.More reality, less AI: you’re absolutely right. From now on, I will reduce the use of AI images. I want you to see real, lovingly painted miniatures and real gaming tables on this blog – even if a highlight isn’t perfect. I will also make sure that my own personal voice as the author is even more prominent in the texts.
There is a lack of detailed instructions for beginners: One reader noted that tactical maneuvers often remain too theoretical for beginners. There is a lack of step-by-step explanations for practice.Visual tactics guides for beginners: I’m launching a new series of tactics guides aimed specifically at beginners. Instead of gray theory, we will break down moves (e.g. how to outmaneuver or use cover) phase by phase using concrete photos of the field or clear diagrams.

Mission objectives for the future: what to expect

If we look at your wish list for future content, there were two absolute frontrunners: More campaigns & scenarios and tangible PDF downloads (cheat sheets, tables etc.) for the gaming table. Both items were on almost every wish list.

Here are the next milestones that I will be tackling based on your wishes:

  1. The PDF offensive: I’m going to start putting tactics guides, rule summaries and my scenarios into clear, well-designed PDFs that you can easily print out. However, this will take some time as I first have to define a PDF layout and the content.
  2. Catch up on English translations: As you know, the blog itself is actually bilingual from the ground up. However, I simply haven’t managed to translate the extensive custom scenarios and mission packs into English (the three campaigns are bilingual) due to sheer lack of time. That was a wonderful wake-up call in the survey: I will definitely do this from now on so that our international players can also get their money’s worth!
  3. More visibility & the question of “how”: One reader wondered in the survey why there are sometimes so few visible reactions and comments on the articles in the tabletop scene, even though the quality is right. To be honest, me too! At this point, I’m not quite sure myself how I can best achieve more tangible feedback and exchange here on the site. Whether short videos (like YouTube shorts) to pick up beginners or other formats are the solution? I am absolutely open to any of your suggestions here. Drop me an email at soeren.spieckermann@web.de and tell me what would motivate you to share your thoughts more often!

Conclusion: MechStrategen is a one-man project, but it grows and thrives because of you. Thank you for helping me to make the blog better. You will see the first adjustments in the coming posts.

Let’s roll the dice – see you on the battlefield!

Best regards,

Sören Spieckermann
