The Battle for Luthien (3052): New Alpha Strike scenario pack “Operation Dragonslayer”
The shadow of the clans falls on the dragon’s main world – and you can rewrite history!
If there is one moment in the history of the Inner Sphere that stands for pure desperation and heroic resistance, it is the defense of Luthien in January 3052. Today I would like to introduce you to a fantastic fan project from Mechstrategen.de that brings this very event to your gaming table: “The Battle for Luthien (3052) – Operation Dragonslayer” .

What is it about?
This free eBook is a fan expansion for BattleTech Alpha Strike. It allows you to replay the brutal invasion of the Drakonis Combine capital by the Smoke Jaguar and Nova Cat clans.
The special thing about this package is the historical context: it is the moment when the arch-enemies House Kurita and House Davion form an unprecedented alliance and call upon legendary mercenaries such as Wolf’s Dragoons and the Kell Hounds to come to the rescue.
What’s in the package?
I have put together a mini-campaign consisting of four connected missions. The concept is cleverly solved: these are
The four missions guide you chronologically through the battle:
- Landing on the Tairakana plains: A desperate battle against the clans’ mechs dropped by the landing ships .
- Defense of Shaidan Basin: A tactical battle for bridgeheads in which the advance on the Imperial City must be stopped.
- Battle for the Waseda Hills: This is about controlling strategic ridges and radar stations.
- Last battle in Kado-guchi Valley: the grand finale. A cauldron battle in which the remnants of the clans try to cover their retreat.
Who is it for?
The package is aimed at both beginners and veterans. The rules are based on BattleTech Alpha Strike (Quick Rules or Commander’s Edition). What is particularly nice is that the missions increase in intensity and size. You start with a manageable skirmish and end in a massive battle in the Kado-guchi Valley.
Highlights of the document:
- Historical depth: The PDF not only provides the missions, but also the appropriate “Lore” background on the political situation, the bidding process of the clans and the units involved.
- Clear structures: Each mission comes with deployment zones, victory conditions, special rules (such as weather effects or forced retreat) and terrain recommendations.
- Visuals: The layout is cleanly designed with atmospheric illustrations that immediately whet the appetite for the hobby.
Conclusion
“Operation Dragonslayer is a declaration of love to the year 3052, taking the hassle out of scenario creation and immersing you in the action straight away. Whether you’re a clan player trying to restore the honor of the Smoke Jaguars or a mercenary giving the lie to Takashi Kurita’s “death to mercenaries” decree – there’s something for everyone here.
Honor the dragon – and load your PPKs!
