The most important eras are: <\/p>\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Age of War (2005-2570)<\/strong><br\/>This era marks the early days of the Inner Sphere, in which the major factions fight for supremacy for the first time. Technologies such as BattleMechs emerge, but many designs are still prototypical. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Star League (2571-2780)<\/strong><br\/>The height of interstellar civilization saw an unprecedented development of technology and the creation of elite mechs. The Star League Defense Force (SLDF) is considered the most powerful military force of this era. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Early Succession War (2781-2900)<\/strong><br\/>After the fall of the Star League, a period of intense warfare began. Many technologies were lost, and the factions increasingly relied on proven standard mechs. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Late Succession War &#8211; LosTech (2901-3019)<\/strong><br\/>This era is characterized by the decline of technology. Many weapon and mech technologies are only available in small quantities, leading to a focus on robust and durable designs. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Late Succession War &#8211; Renaissance (3020-3049)<\/strong><br\/>A phase of renewal begins with the rediscovery of technologies. Units such as the Marauder and Warhammer are modernized, and the Inner Sphere experiences a technological boom. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Clan Invasion (3050-3061)<\/strong><br\/>With the return of the Clans, the Inner Sphere was challenged by advanced mechs and technologies such as XL reactors, ER lasers and active prototypes. This era produced fast, destructive units such as the Timber Wolf (Mad Cat). <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Civil War (3062-3067)<\/strong><br\/>In this turbulent time, the factions of the Inner Sphere fight internally for control. OmniMechs and tactical networks such as the C3 system are increasingly used. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jihad (3068-3080)<\/strong><br\/>The Word of Blake unleashed a variety of new technologies and secret weapons during this chaotic time. C3 networks and improved weapons in particular made many battles unpredictable. At the same time, exotic units such as Protomechs and radically modified BattleMechs appeared.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Republic Age (3081-3130)<\/strong><br\/>The founding of the Republic of the Spheres brought relative stability, but progress continued. Advanced weapons and mech designs characterize this era. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dark Age (3131-3150)<\/strong><br\/>After the blackout of the HPG networks and the collapse of interstellar communication, many factions had to fall back on old strategies and technologies. Nevertheless, new developments such as the omnipresent use of OmniMechs and improved armor technologies also emerged. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IlClan (3151 to present)<\/strong><br\/>The most recent era is characterized by the rise of the new ruler of the Inner Sphere, the IlClan. This phase brings with it not only political upheaval, but also the most advanced technologies. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Effects of the eras on unit selection<\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. <strong>Technological availability<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>Each era has specific technologies and designs that strongly influence the choice of units. While many mechs in the Age of War rely on standard technologies with limited firepower, later eras such as the Clan Invasion offer a variety of advanced weapon and power options. In Alpha Strike, these differences are reflected in point costs, special rules and abilities:  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Age of War:<\/strong> Focus on experimental designs and first prototypes. Tactics are based on basic technologies and mass. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Star League:<\/strong> Elite mechs and highly efficient weapons dominate the battlefield.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Early Succession War:<\/strong> Loss of many technologies leads to increased use of proven and standardized designs. The focus is on robust mechs. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Late Succession War &#8211; LosTech:<\/strong> Decline of technology means less specialized but long-lasting units.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Late Succession War &#8211; Renaissance:<\/strong> The rediscovery of technologies enables modernized versions of classic designs and an increase in technological diversity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Clan Invasion:<\/strong> Light and medium mechs are gaining in importance as Clans&#8217; technologies provide superior firepower with greater mobility.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Civil War:<\/strong> Intra-faction conflicts lead to the widespread use of OmniMechs and tactical networks such as the C3 system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jihad:<\/strong> New technologies such as advanced C3 networks and exotic units such as Protomechs expand the tactical possibilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Republic Age:<\/strong> Advanced weaponry and modern designs dominate the battlefield, with the stability of the era driving technological innovation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dark Age:<\/strong> Adaptability is key as OmniMechs continue to play a central role, but with limited access to communication networks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IlClan:<\/strong> The most advanced technologies and designs dominate, enabling strategic diversity and high flexibility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>In the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.masterunitlist.info\/Home\/Index\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Master Unit List <\/a>you can see which units were in action at which time and with which faction.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. <strong>Fraction specifics<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>The availability of units varies greatly between factions and eras. Units iconic to the Draconis Combine forces in the Early Succession War may have been replaced by more modern designs in the Jihad period. Clans like the Jade Falcon have extremely specialized and expensive mechs, while the Lyran Alliance tends to rely on heavy mechs with lots of firepower.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. <strong>Playing style and balance<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>Alpha Strike is known for its focus on fast, accessible games. The era you play in has a direct impact on your play style: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Early eras:<\/strong> Longer, more tactically demanding games due to lower firepower and slower movement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Later eras:<\/strong> Faster game speed due to higher mobility, better sensors and often more devastating weapon power.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion on the eras in Battletech<\/h2>\n\n<p>The choice of era in BattleTech influences far more than just the units available. It determines the entire character of the game &#8211; from the technology to the underlying strategies. Alpha Strike allows players to experience the best of each era and deploy their favorite mechs in an appropriate historical context. Whether you prefer the brute force of the Age of War or the tactical finesse of the Clan Invasion is up to each player.
