As always, from Mechwarrior to <em>Mechwarrior. <\/em><\/em><\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now the creators of Lorescape are stepping it up and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/lorefoundry\/lorescape-battletech\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/lorefoundry\/lorescape-battletech\">launching a <strong>new Kickstarter<\/strong><\/a> campaign specifically geared toward classic <strong>BattleTech on hex maps<\/strong>. For me, as a passionate MechCommander, this is the news of the month\u2014and today I\u2019d like to explain in more detail why this system is an absolute game-changer for both the classic hex-grid setup and fast-paced <strong>Alpha Strike games<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Problem with Classic HexMap Battlefields<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyone who plays BattleTech on traditional paper or neoprene hex maps is familiar with the problem<sup><\/sup>:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Uneven terrain or different<em>elevation levels<\/em> are often represented on a map solely by numbers. This requires some imagination, but it looks flat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When building classic 3D terrain on paper maps, the edges of hills or forests rarely align exactly with the printed hexagonal grid.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If pieces slip out of place or obscure markings, discussions about <em>line of sight<\/em> or movement costs can quickly arise at the gaming table.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s where the new Lorescape Kickstarter comes in: It offers <strong>custom-fit hextiles<\/strong> that are precisely tailored to the standard hexes on the official BattleTech maps. What\u2019s brilliant about it is its modular design:<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Perfect for BattleTech HexMaps<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Hextiles can be placed directly on the maps to create a three-dimensional representation of gentle hills, steep cliffs, or elevated terrain<sup><\/sup>. Elevation levels can be stacked on top of each other seamlessly. You can see at a glance whether your <em>Atlas<\/em> is taking cover behind a Level 2 hill or whether the enemy <em>Griffin<\/em> is taking advantage of the clear line of sight from a plateau<sup><\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Also top-notch on the Alpha Strike table<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyone who, like me, regularly plays <strong>BattleTech Alpha Strike<\/strong> without hexes on an open field<sup><\/sup> has nothing to worry about: The Hextiles look fantastic even on an open 3D gaming table! Thanks to their texture and paint job, they resemble organic rock formations and terrain features.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tactical Tip for Setup:<\/strong> The modular tiles let me create a completely new playing field in under three minutes before every game.
