An Era in Transition: The New Era Availability Timeline for Your Troops<\/h2>\n\n
Whether my mercenary company is fighting for every C-Bill in the Third Succession War, my house regiment is repelling the Clans\u2019 invasion, or I\u2019m standing on Terra in the shadow of the ilClan era: BattleTech thrives on its story.<\/p>\n\n
I love it when my gaming group starts out in the year 3025 with their favorite Mechs, and we follow our units through a continuous narrative campaign spanning decades. But this is exactly where the time-consuming research work used to begin for me:<\/p>\n\n

\u201cWill my House Steiner even be allowed to use this mech in the year 3058?\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhen will my beloved variant be considered obsolete or technically outdated?\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIs there a modernized successor model to my favorite chassis for my faction in the new era?\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
To put an end to hours of flipping through tables and rulebooks, we’ve integrated a new analysis tool directly into the list view (Force List view) in The Tactical Screen<\/strong>: the [ \ud83d\udd58 ERA AVAILABILITY \/\/ TIMELINE ]<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\nERA AVAILABILITY \/\/ TIMELINE<\/strong> at the bottom of the Force List display<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n
What does the Era Timeline do?<\/h2>\n\n
As soon as I open a Force List, the tool automatically analyzes my entire formation over time\u2014from the era of the list up to the ilClan era<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n
Instead of looking up each unit individually in the Master Unit List<\/em> (MUL), the system plots my entire force on a chronological timeline. I can immediately see in which eras my Force List remains fully operational and where historical discontinuities occur.<\/p>\n\n
What do you see at a glance?<\/h2>\n\n
1. The Visual Era Matrix<\/h3>\n\n
At the heart of it all is a clear matrix: on the left are my units, and on the right, the eras of the Inner Sphere and the Clans are listed chronologically. Each cell uses a simple color code to show me the status:<\/p>\n\n

\ud83d\udfe2 Green (Legally Available):<\/strong> This unit is historically available for my chosen faction during this era and can be played according to the rules.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\ud83d\udfe1 Yellow (Other House\/Faction):<\/strong> Although this model exists on the battlefields of this era, it was not (or not yet) regularly available to my faction historically\u2014perfect as a reference for captured mechs or rare individual cases.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\ud83d\udd34 Red (Extinct or Obsolete):<\/strong> The unit is no longer produced in this era; it was lost in the maelstrom of war or has been supplanted by newer models.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
\u26aa Gray (Unverifiable):<\/strong> There are no official era entries for this unit (e.g., for units built entirely from scratch).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

2. Detailed Analysis by Era<\/h3>\n\n
Below the matrix, I can view the individual eras in detail. Here, the tool provides me with specific answers:<\/p>\n\n

Usage rate:<\/strong>\u201c3 out of 4 units remain legally available.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n
Units Being Phased Out:<\/strong> I can see exactly which Mechs are no longer allowed to carry over into a new era and what their last regular era was.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Smart Upgrade Suggestions:<\/strong> When a Mech becomes obsolete or is removed, the system suggests up to three modernized variants of the same chassis that are approved for my faction in the new era.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Where will this be most beneficial to you?<\/h2>\n\n

Ongoing narrative campaigns:<\/strong> As my gaming group moves the timeline forward, I can immediately see which unit needs a tech upgrade and which mech should be retired to the history museum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Tournament & Scenario Preparation:<\/strong> Does the next tournament require a list strictly based on Clan Invasion<\/em> or Civil War<\/em>? A quick glance at the matrix tells me in seconds whether my existing list is eligible to compete without any adjustments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Effortless consistency:<\/strong> I’m building a themed fleet and want to make sure that all the ships fit together in a historically plausible way\u2014without having to manually compare spec sheets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
