That\u2019s over now! I\u2019ve developed a <a href=\"https:\/\/thetacticalscreen.mechstrategen.de\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/thetacticalscreen.mechstrategen.de\/\">new feature for <strong>The Tactical Screen<\/strong><\/a> that takes this repetitive work off our hands: the <strong>Force List History Updater<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this post, I\u2019ll show you step by step how the tool works and how you can transfer your existing Force Lists into new historical contexts with just a few clicks.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Basic Principle: Intelligent Transformation Instead of Starting from Scratch<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The basic principle behind the History Updater is incredibly simple: Why discard a well-coordinated, tactically balanced troop composition when you can simply adapt it to a historical setting?<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead of retyping a Force List from scratch, you use your existing, working list as a template. A completely new, private copy is created, which you can edit immediately afterward.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The process in detail: How the Updater works<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Getting started is incredibly easy: In the <strong> \u201cMy Force Lists\u201d<\/strong> overview, you\u2019ll now find a new \u201cCopy\u201d button next to the \u201cEdit\u201d button in every row. Set the target parameters<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the window that opens, enter a name for the new list (by default, the old title is appended with a suffix) and use the drop-down menus to select your <strong>target era<\/strong> and\/or <strong>target faction<\/strong>. At least one of these variables must differ from the original for the analysis to begin.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Automatic Status Analysis<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The system scans your units and immediately assigns them to one of three status conditions:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Matches:<\/strong> The unit is still fully available within the new historical context. No action required.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Replaceable:<\/strong> The unit does not exist in this form in the target framework\u2014however, the system has identified suitable alternatives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No suggestion:<\/strong> No direct equivalent was found. The unit remains unchanged in the list for now and is marked with a clear note.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Visual Comparison &amp; Smart Matching<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For each unit classified as \u201cReplaceable,\u201d up to <strong>five criteria-based suggestions<\/strong> are displayed directly below it. To help you quickly get your bearings, the tool shows all relevant values at a glance:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Role &amp; Type\/Size<\/strong> (e.g., Brawler, Size 3)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Range of Motion &amp; Mode<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Damage Values<\/strong> (Short \/ Medium \/ Long)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Armor &amp; Structure<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Special Abilities<\/strong> (e.g., IF, CASE, REAR)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Point Value (PV)<\/strong>, including the calculated <strong>PV difference<\/strong> from the original unit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How does the algorithm prioritize the suggestions?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Top priority:<\/strong> Other variants <em>of the same chassis<\/em> (e.g., switching from a Succession Wars variant of the <em>Warhammer<\/em> to a Clan Invasion variant with LosTech).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Second priority:<\/strong> Similar alternative units that fulfill <strong>the<\/strong> same <strong>role<\/strong> (e.g., Striker), are <strong>the<\/strong> same <strong>size<\/strong>, and have a <strong>PV value<\/strong> as close as possible to the original.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Flexible Implementation &amp; Control<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You retain full control over your force-building process at all times:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Selective Acceptance:<\/strong> One click selects a suggestion; another click deselects it (&#8220;Keep Original&#8221;).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bulk Actions:<\/strong> Using the header bar, you can click \u201cApply All Suggestions\u201d to accept all recommendations at once, or click \u201cReset All\u201d to return to the initial state.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Real-time tracking:<\/strong> The header bar continuously updates your troop\u2019s new <strong>total PV<\/strong> as well as the number of replacements selected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"831\" src=\"https:\/\/mechstrategen.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-20-1024x831.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5437\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mechstrategen.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-20-1024x831.png 1024w, https:\/\/mechstrategen.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-20-768x623.png 768w, https:\/\/mechstrategen.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-20-300x243.png 300w, https:\/\/mechstrategen.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-20.png 1034w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Save and Finish<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Clicking \u201cSave\u201d generates the new list. This process transfers all imported unit entries, tags, the selected game system, and the description. The era and faction are updated to the new target values, and the total HP\/VP are recalculated.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Important Note on Formations &amp; Networks:<\/em> <\/strong>Since the validity of formation requirements or C3 networks may change due to unit reassignments, <strong>formations and C3 networks<\/strong> are <strong>initially left blank in the created copy<\/strong>. After saving, you\u2019ll be redirected directly to editing the new list so you can finalize your lances or stars in the new context.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Benefits in Everyday Gaming: What Does This Feature Offer at the Gaming Table?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For me, the biggest benefit is the enormous amount of time saved when preparing themed events.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether it\u2019s for a narrative campaign, historical scenarios like the Fourth Succession Wars, or tournaments with changing era requirements: Once you\u2019ve built a force list whose synergies and speeds work perfectly for your playstyle, you don\u2019t have to reinvent the wheel every time.
