C3 Networks Made Easy: The New C3 Tool for the Tactical Screen List Builder<\/h1>\n\n
Those of you who regularly play BattleTech Alpha Strike<\/em> and like to use C3 networks are familiar with that little brainteaser before the match: Which unit on your list actually comes with which C3 module? Which slave is attached to which master? Did we accidentally mix Standard C3 with C3 Boosted? And most importantly: Does all of this still fit into a valid lance or company? <\/p>\n\n
To make creating and managing C3 networks in your lists as easy and straightforward as possible, I’ve developed a new feature for The Tactical Screen<\/em>‘s List Builder<\/strong>: the C3 Network Manager<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\nC3 Network Manager<\/strong> on the Tactical Screen<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n

Why have our own C3 tool?<\/h2>\n\n
In Alpha Strike, C3 technology is one of the most powerful tactical tools in a force list. When units share target information in real time, the target value for units in the network drops dramatically\u2014provided that at least one unit in the network is close to the enemy. <\/p>\n\n
But the rules for setting it up are precise:<\/p>\n\n
\n
A standard C3 master (C3M<\/code>)<\/strong> can control exactly three slaves (C3S<\/code>) or downstream masters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
C3 Boosted (C3BSM<\/code> \/ C3BSS<\/code>)<\/strong> protects against ECM, but is not<\/strong> compatible with standard C3.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
C3 Improved (C3I<\/code>)<\/strong> uses a decentralized mesh network for up to six units without a dedicated master.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
In the heat of preparation, it\u2019s easy to overlook details or lose track of the organizational structure when dealing with large military forces. This is exactly where the new tool comes in. <\/p>\n\n
The Core Features of the C3 Network Manager<\/h2>\n\n
1. Automatic Detection & Categorization<\/h3>\n\n
Once you’ve compiled your list and click on the new “C3 Network”<\/strong> tab, the List Builder automatically scans all units. Units with special abilities such as C3S<\/code>, C3M1<\/code>, C3M2<\/code>, C3BSS<\/code>, C3BSM<\/code> or C3I<\/code> are filtered out immediately and made available in the selection pool.<\/p>\n\n
2. Visual canvas with drag-and-drop<\/h3>\n\n
Instead of cryptic text lists, the tool offers a graphical editor:<\/p>\n\n

Master-Slave Hierarchy:<\/strong> Drag your C3 master onto the game board. The system automatically opens three empty slots for subordinate units. Use drag-and-drop to place your slaves directly on the corresponding nodes. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
C3i Cluster:<\/strong> For ComStar, Word of Blake, or specialized mercenary networks, create a C3i cluster and place your units inside it. The tool automatically connects all units visually. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
3. Integrated real-time rule checking<\/h3>\n\n
The system continuously checks the validity of your network in the background according to the official Alpha Strike rules:<\/p>\n\n

Incompatibility error:<\/strong> If you try to drag a C3BSS<\/code> unit into a standard C3 network, the tool immediately triggers an alert and blocks the assignment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Overcrowding:<\/strong> A master has a maximum of three slots. A fourth slave cannot be assigned. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
Master Unit<\/strong>: A master unit can connect to either up to three slaves or up to three other masters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Unassigned Units:<\/strong> The tool will remind you if a C3 unit has been omitted from your list and does not yet belong to a network.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
The highlight: Graphical PDF export<\/h2>\n\n
What good is the best network in the app if you have to search for it all over again at the gaming table?<\/p>\n\n
That’s why I’ve expanded the PDF export feature:<\/p>\n\n

Topology Diagram:<\/strong> There is a separate PDF available for printing that displays your network as a clear tree diagram. It includes unit names, pilot skills, and point values (PV). <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\nGraphical PDF export of <\/strong>the C3 network in the Tactical Screen<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n

With the new C3 Manager in the Tactical Screen<\/em>, the confusion surrounding C3 configuration is a thing of the past. You can build your lists faster, rule out rule violations from the start, and always have a complete overview at the gaming table. <\/p>\n\n
