We learned how to pin down the enemy with a sturdy <em>Battle Lance<\/em> acting as an anvil, and then smash them from the flank with a lightning-fast <em>Striker\/Cavalry Lance<\/em> acting as a hammer. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, we\u2019re taking our game to the next monumental level. As your game collection grows and the battles take on epic proportions\u2014often with a budget of <strong>300 to 450 PV<\/strong> \u2014it\u2019s time for the big moment in tabletop wargaming: You\u2019ll lead an entire <strong>company<\/strong> into battle! <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A company in the Inner Sphere consists of about <strong>three lances (a total of 12 &#8216;Mechs)<\/strong>. We\u2019re taking the tried-and-true duo of<em>the Battle Lance<\/em> and<em>Striker\/Cavalry Lance<\/em> and expanding it with a deadly, long-range element: a <strong>Fire Support Lance<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lance 1: The Battle Lance (\u201cThe Unshakable Center\u201d)<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Mission:<\/strong> The Anvil. This unit marches inexorably through the center of the battlefield, drawing enemy fire and tying down the opponent\u2019s main force. It breaks through the enemy line with sheer mass and durability.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Lineup (Example)<\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Atlas AS7-D<\/strong> (Juggernaut \u2013 52 PV)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Thunderbolt TDR-5S<\/strong> (Brawler \u2013 36 HP)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Marauder MAD-3R<\/strong> (Sniper \u2013 35 HP)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Warhammer WHM-6R<\/strong> (Brawler \u2013 32 HP)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why this compilation?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is pure, brute-force armor. Led by <em>the<\/em> legendary 100-metric-ton <em>Atlas<\/em>, this spear has enough structure and armor points to withstand even the heaviest sustained fire for several rounds. All units move at a similar pace (<strong>6&#8243; to 8&#8243;<\/strong>), allowing them to act as a solid wall. They psychologically force the enemy to expend their resources on this \u201carmor sponge.\u201d   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lance 2: The Fire Support Lance (\u201cThe Long Arm\u201d)<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Mission:<\/strong> The Shield from a Distance. While the Battle Lance advances, this lance takes up positions on hills or behind safe cover in its own deployment zone. Its task is to support the Battle Lance\u2019s advance with heavy long-range fire and to take out high-value targets at long range (<code>L<\/code>).  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Lineup (Example)<\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Catapult CPLT-C1<\/strong> (Missile Boat \u2013 32 HP)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Archer ARC-2R<\/strong> (Missile Boat \u2013 39 HP)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Awesome AWS-8Q<\/strong> (Sniper \u2013 39 HP)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Blackjack BJ-1<\/strong> (Sniper \u2013 26 HP)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why this compilation?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This lance is optimized for maximum range. With its three PPKs (particle cannons), the <em>Awesome<\/em> delivers brutal, reliable 3-point damage from long range without ever running out of ammo. <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Core Feature \u2013 Indirect Fire:<\/strong> Both the <em>Archer<\/em> (<code>IF2<\/code>) and the <em>Catapult<\/em> (<code>IF1<\/code>) are equipped with powerful <a href=\"https:\/\/mechstrategen.de\/en\/indirect-fire-in-battletech-alpha-strike\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"387\">LRM long-range missiles<\/a>. This means they don\u2019t even have to see the enemy to fire on them. They lurk behind a mountain and rain down destruction while remaining completely out of the enemy\u2019s reach. The <em>Blackjack<\/em> serves as an affordable backup to fend off pesky aircraft or fast scouts.   <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lance 3: The Striker\/Cavalry Lance (\u201cThe Deadly Hammer\u201d)<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Mission:<\/strong> The Enforcer. This lightning-fast unit operates completely independently of the other two lancers. It exploits the flanks of the battlefield, bypasses the center, and pounces on isolated enemy units, mission objectives, or the enemy\u2019s defenseless artillery.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Lineup (Example)<\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Phoenix Hawk PXH-1<\/strong> (Skirmisher \u2013 26 HP)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Griffin GRF-1N<\/strong> (Sniper \u2013 31 HP)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Wolverine WVR-6R<\/strong> (Skirmisher \u2013 30 HP)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Locust LCT-1E<\/strong> (Scout \u2013 19 PV)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why this compilation?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These units move extremely fast at <strong>10&#8243; to 12&#8243;<\/strong> and use jump jets (<code>j<\/code>) to ignore all terrain. They permanently generate high target movement modifiers (<strong>TMM of +2 or +3<\/strong>), which is why the enemy has enormous trouble hitting them at all. They strike hard and disappear back into cover before the enemy can react.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Company-Level Coordination: The Three-Step Tactic<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Playing a company means conducting the three lances like an orchestra. The sequence follows a clear choreography: <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1: Stretch the net (Rounds 1\u20132)<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your <strong>Fire Support Lance<\/strong> immediately seeks out an elevated position or takes cover behind a large obstacle. The <strong>Battle Lance<\/strong> marches in a straight line toward the primary target. At the same time, the <strong>Striker Lance<\/strong> sprints along one of the outer flanks, completely bypassing the main action.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: The Anvil Is Blocked (Rounds 2\u20133)<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Battle Lance charges at the enemy. The <em>Atlas<\/em> and the <em>Marauder<\/em> open fire from medium range. The enemy must now defend itself and fires at your Battle Lance. Now it\u2019s the ranged units\u2019 turn to shine: Since your Battle Lance has a line of sight to the enemy &#8216;Mechs, <em>the Archer<\/em> and <em>Catapult<\/em> can rain <strong>indirect fire<\/strong> down on the targets from their safe cover at the other end of the map. The enemy suffers massive damage but cannot counter your missile boats.    <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3: The Hammer Strikes (Round 3+)<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While the enemy is trapped in the crossfire between your Battle Lance (in front of him) and the barrage of missiles (above him), your <strong>Striker Lance<\/strong> breaks out from the flank. The <em>Locust<\/em> and the <em>Phoenix Hawk<\/em> race behind enemy lines and attack the mechs from the rear (<strong>rear-attack bonus!<\/strong>). If the opponent tries to turn units around to chase the Strikers, they\u2019ll leave their front exposed to the <em>Atlas<\/em> and the <em>Awesome<\/em>.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Takeaway for Beginners: Don&#8217;t Be Afraid of Big Numbers<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Playing a company of 12 &#8216;Mechs can seem intimidating at first. But thanks to this strict division, you don&#8217;t have to figure out what each &#8216;Mech should do individually during the movement phase: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Group Yellow (<strong>Fire Support<\/strong>) stays behind and fires.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Red Group (<strong>Battle<\/strong>) moves forward and blocks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Blue Group (<strong>Striker<\/strong>) runs around the outside and attacks from behind.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this classic system, you&#8217;ll always keep track of the action\u2014even in the biggest battles\u2014and methodically crush your opponent!<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-3c9c079a default uagb-is-root-container\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Transparency notice on the use of AI (in accordance with the EU AI Act):<\/strong> <br\/>The content of this blog is personally conceived, researched and defined by me.
