It&#8217;s tempting to play Alpha Strike like a classic deathmatch &#8211; last man standing wins. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But let me tell you: <strong>If you only hunt for kills, you usually lose the game.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alpha Strike only reveals its true strategic depth through the scenarios and mission objectives. If you want to win, you need to stop being a butcher and start becoming a mission specialist. Here&#8217;s my guide on how to change your mindset from &#8220;search and destroy&#8221; to &#8220;mission accomplished&#8221;.  <\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. the list: Tools instead of weapons<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Victory doesn&#8217;t start in the first round, but at the crafting table. If you only pack mechs with maximum damage value, you are inflexible. <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>It&#8217;s all in the mix:<\/strong> You need &#8220;objective grabbers&#8221;. A fast <em>Locust<\/em> or a <em>Dasher<\/em> with a high TMM (Target Movement Modifier) and speed is often more valuable than a slow Assault mech. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Specialists:<\/strong> Use units with the <code>jump<\/code> ability to reach mission objectives over rough terrain, or infantry in transports to hold mission markers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. the set-up: setting the focus<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even when positioning your units, you have to ask yourself: <em>Where will the mission be decided?<\/em> If it&#8217;s about holding three control points in the center, there&#8217;s no point in parking your heaviest guys in a defensive forest edge at the edge of the field. Position your fast units so that they can put pressure on the objectives, and your &#8220;hammer&#8221; units so that they cover the corridors through which the enemy must pass to reach the objectives. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3 The initiative: Acting instead of reacting<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The initiative phase is the heart of Alpha Strike. But how do you use it for the mission? <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Initiative won:<\/strong> Move your key units last. If you see that your opponent has missed his target or moved too far away, use the moment to occupy a mission marker that he can no longer contest. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Initiative lost:<\/strong> Now it&#8217;s all about damage limitation. Don&#8217;t sacrifice your mission unit. Use your &#8220;sacrificial units&#8221; to block paths or disrupt lines of sight so that your point collectors survive.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. target selection: Who really has to die?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the point at which most people fail. In a deathmatch, you shoot at the target that you can destroy most easily. In a mission, you shoot at the target that <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mechstrategen.de\/en\/target-prioritization\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"1991\">hinders your progress the most<\/a>.<\/strong>  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Set priorities:<\/strong> The enemy <em>Archer<\/em> in the background is annoying, but the little <em>Savannah Master<\/em>, who is on his way to capture your mission markers, is the far greater threat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mission kills instead of total kills:<\/strong> Sometimes it is enough to damage an opponent to slow them down or give them a penalty on their tasks. A mech with a critical hit on the drive is often just as useless for the mission as a destroyed mech. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>My conclusion<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alpha Strike is a game of movement and priorities. A glorious kill feels good, but a tactically clean victory through mission points and achieved mission objectives shows the true mech strategist. <\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-3c9c079a default uagb-is-root-container\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Transparency notice on the use of AI (in accordance with the EU AI Act):<\/strong> <br\/>The content of this blog is personally conceived, researched and defined by me.
